You can choose between either of that during the call , To do that swipe down your quick panel and on top you will see the option ( this is active during the call only keep that in mind).
In case your concern is resolved then click on the 3 dots and select resolved.
As per your query, we want to inform you that the voice focuses activate while you are on call with someone. When you are on a call with someone, a Mic icon will come with the calling number, you need to click that number, and your voice focus mode will be on.
