Hello everyone,

As a lot of you must know, Amazon and Flipkart had their annual festival sale going on in India. So i thought, 'Why not use the occassion to get the charging gear that'd have me on the prestigious club of those who're above the-puny-15-watters?'

BIG MISTAKE!

Turns out, in this festival season, God had His own plans to humble those who’d be greedy, and hungry to climb the wattage ladder, so from up top, they could look down upon fellow 15 watters in contempt. (Cue evil laughter)

And this is after I knew the mess USB C charging had become in the last few years.

So...

The charger I ordered was this.

Because I read that OnePlus 65 watt Warp Chargers support PPS charging.

(As you can see in the image, the charger does 'say' that it supports PPS standards, though whether it really 'means' it is another matter.)😕

So off I went, happily turning on GPS, hotspot, Enhanced processing, AetherSX2 and quickly brought the phone down to 2%.

Now, when I connected the beloved S20 FE 5G to it...it showed 2 hrs 36 mins to fully charge!

WORSE, it actually started draining the battery! And soon the phone would turn off.

I scratched my head for a bit, then decided to let an old Redmi Note 7 Pro we have at home, take a shot at this.

While definitely slower than the 18 watt QC 2.0 charger I have, it did charge in at least UP direction!

So the thing definitely works.

Next, I decided to give it a proper OnePlus 9 treatment, and BAM! It charged with full 65watt speeds!

So, I think with Redmi, it may have worked at 10 or maybe 15 watt, and with OP9, the Warp 65 standard kicked in. Suggesting that even other PD compatible stuff would work. (Unfortunately I don't have more to test.)

At this point, I decided that it may have been proprietary cable (the red one that came with the 65w charger) which is at fault.

So I ordered a new USB C to C cable. Which looks like this:

Hoping that I'd finally be barging into the Super Fast Chargers club, I put the new on in, saying 'Black is the New Res.'😎

Again I brought it down to 1%, and tried to charge with new cable.

And again my arrogance came crashing down hard upon my hopes! 😣

Same result. Phone doesn't charge. It actually discharges.

I wallowed in self-pity for a bit. Wailed 'Why me, God?' For half an hour, maybeBut ultimately decided to renew my journey for the divine knowledge that's samsung USB-PD / PPS charging on Galaxy S20 FE 5G.

Which is when I came upon a bunch of threads on Reddit which said that August patch had broken down Super Fast charging (25w) on their phones!

The things to note there were:

1.) 15w and 45w charging works as intended. Its only 25watt that's been broken.

2.) A lot of those guys looked like brits (okay, maybe I'm acting prejudiced, or stereotyping gora log, perhaps they were from other EU countries too), but I didn't see many more posts/comments saying that this issue is across the globe.

Now...

Fully Humbled and hammered, the questions with which I come to you my fellow brothers and sisters, are these:

1.) Are PPS charging implementations the same on all samsung phones? (Not talking about Super Fast charge 2.0 that's introduced on newest Galaxy S22 ultra).

2.) If yes, then is it possible that this charger I bought, has only PPS charging broken in it?

3.) Are PPS charging cables different than regular PD cables? Is the Warp charge cable (the red one in the box) capable of carrying only fixed levels of voltage & current, and not PPS varying kind of levels?

4.) Is buying an original Samsung USB C to C cable the solution I'm looking for? The thing is, most of the places where I look online, these cables (original + non-original) are non-refundable. 7 day Replacement only. I had already burned my hands with this black braided cable that didn't work, which is going to be complete waste anyway, because even my PC doesn't have USB C ports. And the 15 watt Samsung charger is USB A-to-C type, which won't fit in the new 65w charger.

Unfortunately, this cable thing also made me wait 1 day longer than the return window for charger. The cable was actually supposed to arrive yesterday, the last day for charger return window, where I could've tested it and then returned both. (But now that I look at hindsight, it wouldn't have mattered anyway, cause the charger was also Replacement only.🤦‍♂️) But I took a gamble becaus of OnePlus 9 charging results, and lost.😓

But maybe I'll again bite the bullet and order yet another cable, if its guaranteed to work with PPS ... or have a refund option if it doesn't.

5.) Or is it all just my usual goddamned cursed luck working against me, and I ordered these things only when Super Fast charging 25w is already broken, with august update, with no way to know for sure whether the problem is with charger, or the phone?

Is it possible that a future update will fix the problem and I'll have 25watt charging with the Charger and cables I bought?

There's also the fact that I just saw yet another update knocking on my phone's door! In the October, when the usual security patch update was already installed on 8 October itself by me. And this is most unusual behavior from samsung indeed, issuing 2 updates in a month to a device like S20 FE 5G, which they usually hold in so much contempt that sometimes the whole 2 months blow over it and no updates arrive.😒

Or is it that 5G enabler update which was all over the news a few days ago. (But I suspect its not related to 5G, cause samsung said they'll be issuing it from next month onwards.) And I'm pretty sure the 1st ones to get it would be S22 gen and other flagships, not our underdog S20 FE 5G.

Plus, if they'd be adding this major a functionality to our phones, they’d be for sure boasting about it in their update changelogs the 1st chance they get, but they aren't. Its the usual "Security + Stability" vague-words straight from the days of Cold War era Soviet Union diplomacy. Check it out.👇

So, Could this be the one that'd solve my problem?

Or is it some kind of "preparing the groundwork" kinda thing?🤔

For whatever purposes. Like One UI 5.0, or 5G rollout, or whatever...??

So anyway...

Bottomline:

What are your experiences with 25 watt Super Fast Charging recently with new updates?

Has samsung really broken it in Indian version as well?

Have any of you tried to 25w Super Fast charge using OnePlus warp 65 bricks? Original or Ainvayi brands? Does it work? Do you need to change the cable for it?

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

🙏🙏

And I promise I won't taunt all those beneath me 15 watters anymore.😜

I heard that 25w fast charging bug is only for s20 fe exynos version. I have that phone and I've been facing the same issue from august update. I never saw any thread about s20 fe 5g having the same issue.

Hmm, that's an interesting take on it.

But I saw several people who were claiming to have been suffering from this issue on even SD 865 5G version. Take a look.👇

But even though samsung broke super fast charging, it actually shows super fast charging when you plug in.

Do you have the same notification while you plug your phone with OP 65w charger?

That's a clue!

It doesn't, in mine!

It just shows cable charging. In notifications.

On lock screen, it just shows "charging" but its of course not charging.

Look at the blue line in second SS. And negative current flow.😔Screenshot_20221014_003626_1000003976_1665687986.jpgScreenshot_20221014-003554_3C All-in-One Toolbox.jpg

Bro, I know that you can't charge S20 FE 5G faster than 25W, (or samsung's in general higher than 45w) but like I said, I have frequent visitors who use OnePlus 9 as well, plus that charger was supposed to be both PPS (samsung charging tech upto 45w) + Warp charging tech upto 65w + general USB PD charging (like it said in the photo)
So I thought it'd be compatible with both + maybe future proof.

I only bought it when i saw multiple posts saying that.
