Galaxy SSamsung had confirmed earlier this year that it would launch a new Exynos processor that will use AMDās Radeon GPU. The company has been in collaboration with AMD for the past two years to develop a powerful mobile GPU that is better than ARMās Mali series. However, it wasnāt clear if the processor would be for smartphones or laptops. Now, more information about it has been revealed.
According to a new report coming out of South Korea via Korea Economic Daily, Samsung will launch its next flagship Exynos chipset (probably Exynos 2200) in the second half of this year, and that it will feature AMD Radeon GPU designed for low-power devices. Although it could first debut in an ARM-based Windows 10 laptop, it is being claimed that the chipset could also be used in smartphones and tablets.
This chipset will reportedly be manufactured using Samsung Foundryās own 5nm fabrication process. The report states that the upcoming Exynos processor will feature āextraordinary computing power and battery efficiency.ā If this information turns out to be true, Samsung could become the first brand apart from Qualcomm to launch an ARM-based processor for Windows 10 laptops. This chipset could also feature built-in 5G connectivity and advanced wireless technologies like Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6E.
The Exynos 2200 is rumored to rival Appleās M1 and Qualcommās Snapdragon 8Cx Gen 2 processors. Appleās new chipset, which was unveiled late last year, stunned the whole world with its desktop-beating performance and twice the battery life of other laptop CPUs from Intel. Qualcomm, however, hasnāt shown a huge improvement over the previous-generation Snapdragon processor for laptops.
