Im using Samsung Galaxy S8 and I can't use the debugging mode. I've enabled USB debugging but when I connect to the computer, it gets connect as normal MTP device. Debugging mode is not activated. What am I doing wrong?

It will ask you the first time you connect debugging for permission. You or someone else might have accidentally denied it and now it might not be asking you again. I dont have much knowledge about this so you may further google this issue. Maybe try turning it off and on 😛 No, seriously... Or secondly your drivers might not have been installed properly. For this, connect your phone and one by one put it in all the modes available, like MTP, Camera, media, charging and whatever and let the drivers install. Else remove your phone from devices and printers and perform this again. good luck. btw are you developing apps?

thanks for the tips but none of them worked :( any other tip perhaps?
it's not for developing apps, but I wanted it to take full backup of my phone through adb.

Thank you for your query. The relevant department may serve you better/speedily, if you can provide logs/video by registering this feedback in Error Section (Samsung Members App -> Feedback -> Questions/Errors -> Create -> Error reports).
