Title: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE – Android Auto Not Working with USB Cable in Any Car

Post:

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a persistent issue with my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE related to Android Auto. It simply doesn't work via USB cable in any car, no matter what I try.

Details:

Phone model: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (Exynos variant)

Software: Running latest firmware and Android version (as of July 2025)

Issue: Android Auto doesn’t launch or get detected when I connect the phone to a car using a USB cable.

Tested in multiple cars: Tried it in Hyundai, Maruti, and Skoda systems — same issue.

Cables tested:

Original Samsung cable (fast charging/data cable)

Multiple high-quality USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C cables

Android Auto version: Updated to latest from Play Store

Developer settings: USB debugging tried ON and OFF – no difference

Phone Settings Checked:

Android Auto is enabled

Permissions granted

USB preference set to "File Transfer" and “Data Transfer” manually

What I’ve Tried:

Cleared cache and data of Android Auto

Reinstalled Android Auto

Restarted phone multiple times

Tried safe mode

Reset app preferences

Factory reset the phone (still didn’t work)

Verified that other phones work fine in the same car with the same cable

This issue has become very frustrating, especially since Android Auto is a key part of my daily drive. I feel like I’ve tried everything, but the phone simply refuses to connect via cable.

Questions:

1. Is this a known issue with the S21 FE?

2. Could this be a hardware-level USB/data pin problem?

3. Has anyone else faced this with recent software updates?

4. Any other workaround or solution?

Would really appreciate help or insights from anyone who’s resolved this or is experiencing the same.

Thanks in advance!
