Galaxy S
Hello all,
I bought my S24U recently and I need to know whether the phone should be charged for 100% in the initial days?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

For your Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (S24U), there's no strict requirement to charge it to 100% during the initial days, as modern smartphones use lithium-ion batteries with advanced battery management systems. Unlike older nickel-based batteries, lithium-ion batteries don't need to be "conditioned" through full charge-discharge cycles when new. However, there are some best practices to optimize battery health and performance from the start:
Initial Charging: You can charge your S24U to 100% when you first use it, but it’s not mandatory. The battery is typically partially charged out of the box (around 50-70%). If you want to use it right away, you can charge it to a comfortable level (e.g., 80-100%) and start using it. The phone’s battery management will prevent overcharging, so leaving it plugged in at 100% overnight is safe.
Battery Calibration: Some sources suggest running the battery close to empty (but not completely draining it) within the first few charge cycles to help the charge controller calibrate to the battery’s actual capacity. This isn’t critical but can help the phone display accurate battery percentage readings. It doesn’t have to be the very first cycle.
Charging Habits for Longevity: For optimal battery health over time:
Avoid letting the battery drop to 0% frequently, as deep discharges can stress the battery.
Charging to 80-85% regularly (instead of 100%) can reduce wear on the battery, especially with Android 15’s option to limit charging to 80%.
Use a charger that supports Samsung’s Super Fast Charging (up to 45W with a 5A USB-C cable) for efficient charging without excessive heat.
First Week Observations: As noted in user experiences, the battery life may improve after a few charge cycles as the system optimizes. One user reported 60% battery remaining after nearly 24 hours of use on the first cycle, with expectations of better performance after a few cycles.
Recommendation: Charge your S24U to 100% initially if it’s convenient, but don’t stress about it. Focus on using a compatible 45W charger with a 5A cable for fast charging and avoid extreme charge levels (0% or constant 100%) regularly to maintain battery health. If you want to verify fast charging is enabled, go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Battery > Charging Settings and ensure “Fast charging” is toggled on.
If you have a specific charger or usage pattern in mind, let me know, and I can tailor the advice further!
