Dear Members,

!! Wishing you all Happy Sankranti!!

15th Jan, 2019, Android 9.0 (Pie) based OneUI 1.0 stable build was released for S9 series. There could not have been a better festive gift than this for eagerly waiting galaxy device users. This custom android skin not only brought fresh breath of air for Samsung users, also introduced new features and functionality.

The new UI design focusing on One-Handed usage and introduction of Dark mode for s-AMOLED panels, gave UI a unique touch; setting it apart from other brand UIs in competition.

Over the period of past 12 months, the UI was fairly optimized with monthly updates and addition of new features from the 2019 s10 series.

Now we are in 2020 and S9 users are eagerly waiting for the next major software upgrade; Android 10 based OneUI 2.0. Based on timelines of BETA program it was expected to get the stable release by this time, however Samsung pushing 6th BETA update two days back shows that developers are really working hard to provide the end user a pleasing experience with the stable build. BETA users can expect stable build by this weekend followed by stable release couple of days later for rest of users.

Below are the few new features / functionalities making their way to S9 series in OneUI 2.0:

  • Digital Wellbeing / Parental control
  • Dex Mode for PC by just using the USB cable
  • Completely revamped Device care
  • New improved notification management system
  • Dedicated wallpaper menu
  • Other UI improvements for one-handed usage, new camera UI, improved Android 10 gesture navigation system, adding non-app shortcuts to lock screen etc. etc.

Do share your OneUI experiences (good or bad) during this one year by replying in comments section of this article which can include:

  • Feature liked the most
  • Suggest improvement for existing features / functionalities
  • New features required

Cheers!!

SunnySung
