please apply a thin film of plastic. so, It can't get scratches easily. I ruined my s9 using like you did. now i can't look my phone when the display is off.

your device certified by iP68 water and dust resistant doesn't mean that it can't scratched...main culprits is quartz and sand which can easily scratch gorilla glass according to hardness test mesurment of mohs scale of hardness...so better to protect it with compatible screen protector

You should apply a screen guard if your usage warrants it,else don't care about it.Anyway,do enquire to Samsung about it.

Buy Gadgetshieldz screen protector or clear film and use hair dryer to apply it.
