If you are using fingerprint lock...if you press the lockdown mode it locks your device. and I won't use fingerprint to unlock your device. you can unlock your device with your password or pattern lock

Yes it is one of the most important,super useful feauture.
If you want to keep your smartphone somewhere in your office,or near your friends and want to keep your privacy locked when you are not near your device then first enable this feauture by tapping on it,it will hide all notification icons from lockscreen and no one will be able to see any info on your device till the device gets unlocked.And device can only be unlocked by entering correct password or passkey or pattern and biometrics will be turned off.It is a super useful feature for people who want to protect their privacy.
