Using DEX in Note 9

The Samsung customer care is next to Pathetic and haven't been able to help me..

I have a Note 9 and am trying to use DEX. How do I use it?

Do I need a DEX cable or, can I use the USB cable to use DEX?

Any help would be sincerely appreciated..

Usb type C cable that came with your charger is enough if you want to use DeX on your PC. You have to install dex for your pc too. If you want to use DeX with your tv or a large monitor then HDMI cable will be required. But make sure you buy good cable as most Hdmi cables dont work.😀

I tried that but DEX keeps telling me that the phone is not connected or, I need to update the drivers, which I did.

Note 9 doesn't have dex for pc yet, it should roll out with a future update.

If you are still on Pie then you need Type C to HDMI cable (Branded only) but in Beta or after Stable One UI 2 it will works with Type C to Usb (Charging Cable) it self...Though with Older External display with USB Female Socket may work or not I am not Sure.....

I am still on Pie..So that means I cannot use the USB charger cable..

But it's just a moment of a month Hardly & you will get the Stable One UI 2 So don't waste your money for Type c to HDMI Cable ( If your External Display has both Usb & HDMI Female Port) and again I checked my charging Cable with LG TV (2012 Model with Female Usb Socket and it won't worked).

If you want to use on pc then wait but for using on tv etc you can buy adapters worth nearly 1k which work well and widely available on Amazon.

I would like to inform you that you can connect your smartphone to an external display using an HDMI adaptor (USB Type-C to HDMI) or DeX Pad.

Please follow the below mentioned steps to use the Samsung dex in the device:

> Connect an HDMI adaptor to your smartphone.

> Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI adaptor and to a TV or monitor’s HDMI port.

> On your smartphone’s screen, tap Continue → Start.
