RCS was working fine but out of the blue it just turned off and won't register again at any cost. Once I click on the chat settings it shows a pop-up asking to register for chat service. After clicking start the chat settings gets greyed out for 2-3 minutes then shows registration failed.
Rebooted my device. Cleared cache and data of message app but not working. Device: Note 9.
Any help. Thanks.

Already done and received reply.
Solution:
1. Clear cache and data which I have done.
2. Factory reset which I won't.
Thanks.

I got a solution for those whose RCS is not getting registered. Clear the cache and data of message app. Then reset network settings. Reboot. It worked for me.

I even did this. Not able to get through. Registration Failed.

If you are using dual SIM then check if the default SMS and mobile data is selected for the number you are trying to register for RCS. However in my case it didn't happen immediately and took some time.

Sounds this is becoming hectic. Below is the summary,

1. From past 2 weeks rcs was shut off in my device. Was using Samsung Messages alone.

2. Tried activating through Google messages. Never worked.

3. Tried all possible ways of clear cache, Storage. Carrier Services and Both messaging apps.

4. Crazy thing is i had even done factory reset post the may security update.

5. Tried following google Support article to get rcs back working.

6. All fail. None of them worked out.

7. Approached my sim provider and asked to look of any block is been done at their side. They are working on this still.

8. Uninstalled Google Messages. Followed the above workaround which jad worked for you. Still the same issue for me.

Note, I'm an Single Sim User.

By the way, What was the time it got it working for you?

Anyone has suggestions. Feel free.

Basically the troubleshooting which you have done did cover every possible option. Now the only thing is to wait for the service provider's reply. I was facing the same problem. Google message didn't work for me as well. So I had turned off RCS. I Was facing some network issues so had to reset the network settings and then turned on RCS. RCS got switched on but took couple of days time to get register. I didn't bother because I thought it won't work. Prior to network reset, once I'll put the number and click submit it greyed out the chat settings option and after couple of minutes it will show registration failed error at the bottom of the screen. However if I closed the message app from recent menu it will just reset RCS and once I open the message app it will again ask me register my number.
