Hello Samsung Members,

Are any of you experiencing random SIM card disconnection on Note 20 Ultra?

I noticed this issue few days after One UI 4.0 January patch update...have already Factory Reset and Wipe Cache, but it still occurs randomly.

I also reinserted the SIM Card properly and its physical contacts / connection points seem to be good, NOT damaged.

I got in touch with Samsung support but they asked for some complicated logs (and the code to generate logs is wrong anyways...the code does not work for One UI 4.0...they have no clue).

I get 'Refreshing SIM data' toast message after it disconnects and reconnects with network.

The issue is very random and can't say for sure when it will occur. Sometimes 3-4 times in a day, sometimes none.
One time it also occurred while speaking on the phone and it got disconnected obviously.

I use VI India service...issue did not occur on previous Android version. I use 4G but also tried to switch on 2G, 3G...same issue.
I live in a location that has pretty good signal strength (around -95 dBm for 4G LTE). I had changed the SIM card around 3 years back so it's pretty 'new' in that sense.

Need to check if it will be fixed after Feb. 2022 patch but it's yet to reach India, so 🤷🏻

UPDATE: It seems after Feb. 2022 patch update, this issue of random disconnection is gone. Pretty stable connection.
Still low signal strength than expected, but that varies by region and depends largely on telecom operator.

This issue has not occurred in my Note 20 Ultra. No Feb security patch update yet maybe will receive it by this week or next like the Jan update.

-95 dBm is average only, -80 or below is good signal strength. Switch to Jio or Airtel.

Yes, for 2G, 3G it's in that range for VI as well.
But for 4G LTE network, do Airtel or Jio go below -85 dBm?

This is really a great signal strength for 4G LTE network 😯👍🏻

I'm facing network disconnects on 4G and it's very slow at times. State facing this issue with One UI 4.0 update on S21 + . I have shared CP logs back in November 2021 but team doesn't have a clue. They are asking for fresh logs. My signal strength is -80 dB. I changed my Sim last month to rule out sim issues.

-80 is pretty good signal strength. Nowadays I'm getting -95 to -100 on 4G (VI India) 🙄 which is not that good, it's ok-ish.
But in another area around 3 km. from my location, I got -75 dBm 😯 which is pretty great.
It seems there are some 'pockets' of bad range in some areas in every city. They should identify these and fix it if they can.
Not sure if switching telecom operator will fix the issue...what if same issue persists?

This is definitely a software issue. This issue started immediately after phone restated with One UI 4.0, for which I was excited. I have now asked them to replace my Unit, if they feel their software is perfect. I see no other way to push these guys for a software fix.
