My note 8 has become laggy even though I haven't used up half of the space. None of the apps are completely optimised for note 8 yet. This is the biggest issue. probably because of which the lag is occuring.
Developer has to optimise the app for a phone's hardware, not the other way around. There could be a lot of other factors making your phone laggy. Please mention what kind of lag you are facing and when doing what
