Anybody knows how data can be extracted from my dead note5, which the samsung service Centre says, needs motherboard replacement ?
I'm told there are expert technical facilities in China who can do this

There is a chance to recover data, but it depends on the damage level.

Steps to Try:

* Don't turn it on - Let it dry first (preferably in silica gel).
* Take it to a service center - Ask them to recover data or test the motherboard.
* If the motherboard works - You can recover data, including the Google ID.
* If the motherboard is dead - Replacing it won't restore your friend's data or Google ID (data is stored in the original internal storage).

Two-line Tech Tip:

* Data is tied to internal storage.
* Changing the motherboard equals a new phone; data gone.
