Why i can't use selfie camera as a 8MP shooter in third party apps .eg. video calling . It's only 5.2 MP

I have to keep my phone away in order to video call properly.

It's a big issue for me and i am waiting for a long time now.

it was not solved through a software update.

When can i expect it to be solved?
