my phone can see my Mac. but not able to connect to it

it is clear case of sharing issue. you need to check you Mac shared folder is shared correctly and on you phone you need to select that shared folder.
due to security reasons Catalina will not allow you to share its home drive. select download folder in your system preferences sharing and then check. Mark as solution if it works. good luck
