My note 8 is not even 1year old and already the charger stopped working. Since around 2 months, most of the time the phone was not fast charging , and today the charger suddenly stopped working completely

Try the same charger with different device and check if it's working fine or not.
Try different charger on your device as well to check if the device is fine.
Check the cable as well.
If the issue is with charger then visit to nearest Samsung Repair center, as you told it's in warranty then it will be covered as per Samsung policies.
Same goes with the device.

have already checked everything. The problem is with the adapter. Does it have 6 or 12 months of warranty ?

usually accessories have 6 months warranty. please check with Samsung Care.
