Calibrate your compass. You need to rotate your phone in an eight figure direction. Also get a compass app from play store and try to resolve the problem from there. Alternatively you can also open Google Maps, click on the location button on the bottom right and click on 'calibrate compass'

It's not a bug, the reason why it needs to be calibrated frequently could mainly be due to magnetic interferences from nearby devices. Even the magnetic speaker from your phone can interfere with the compass sensor in your device. The compass finds the source to be the magnetic north in that case and thus points in the wrong direction.

By calibrating you can separate the internal and external contributions to the magnetic field by looking at how the field changes as the phone is rotated in 3 dimensional space.

But if the compass still doesn't points in the right direction even after calibrating, then you probably have a faulty compass.

most of the m30s have this problem. I had to calibrate every time I open compass or maps. see geekyranjits review of m30s on youtube he also mentioned the compass problem in his video

Go to Google maps setting there is calibration option by moving the mobile like 8. Then check with home button pressed. if it locates your present place it is tuned. or switch on Wi fi and try again.
