If you don't know how recovery mode works you could ask a friend who knows. Or you can do it manually instead. When an app feels slow, press and hold on the icon, you'll see an "i" in a popup window. Press it, you'll see storage in the options, go in. You'll see "clear cache" at the bottom. Press it to clear the cache. It will make the app a bit more responsive.
