Does anybody know a way to change this?
I don't need a widget acting like a shortcut.

I want to change the actual icon of the app. Like Nova launcher can do.

There are thousands of free icon packs on Galaxy Themes...round, square etc...
So simply download & apply...

I'm not talking about themes or icon packs, though I did explore that too but it was useless. I'm looking for stock icons, without the ugly white background. Or without changing them to something else entirely just to change shape. Sadly there's no way to customise it. If you've used customisation on Nova or any other launcher you'd know.

Currently, there's no option for that. Third party customization app #hex too forgot to add this feature. One workaround for that is that you can use apps like One UI Pixel icon pack or One UI circle icon pack, but the icons are limited.

You want to change the icon shape of an app that is a circle or square right, enable the developer option, and check if you can find the icon shape. It was available earlier on my phone but now I'm unable to find it.

Bro, Icon packs do not apply directly to Samsung phones. It can be done through Goodlock but it is very ugly. I tried applying UX Led but once applied it does not change the shape of all apps, they are pre-applied and some icons do not change at all. On my other phone, I get a squircle icon shape that are uniform to all apps and I can apply whichever icons I like. Only if I apply a different launcher then I get the option like Nova or Microsoft launcher. Till date I'm unable to find a solution.

With One UI 4 update, I read you can use third party icons and change icon shapes using theme park.

Yes via Goodlock but that is pathetic, that is what I have written in my above reply

Samsung really needs to improve the UI.

Samsung needs to start removing features from Goodlock app and start adding more features in One UI.
