A factory reset erases all your data (i.e. files, pictures, downloaded apps, videos, music etc.) from your phone. and not the system software OS, also a rootkit malware virus may remain even after a factory reset. your files are gone invisible after a factory reset, they are not deleted permanently. some data wiping tools completely remove the data, or they get erased after some time. Although all your accounts are removed after a factory reset, you will require your google account to sign in after a factory reset, if that had not been explicitly removed earlier. A factory reset will restore all your device settings to default, but will not modify the system partition, hence Android will not downgrade to previous versions.
