For Pie update I don't have any idea but only thing I can say that I think J7 max will not get Pie OS update. Plus, if you're not getting Security update on J7 max for more than a year now then it may have stopped receiving that Security patch updates too.
You are wrong ! J7 Max will receive PIE android 9 software update. The engineers are working on it. It's very familiar that J7 Max gets new major update at delay comparing to all other devices.
