May 25, 2013 the capital was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the city with the highest concentration of white marble buildings in the world. In an area of 22 square kilometers, 543 new buildings with white marble covering a total area of more than 4.5 million square meters have been built, in other words - for every 4.87 square meters there are 1 square meter of white marble. These figures show that Ashgabat is becoming one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
