Hi members,

Recwntly my Galaxy F62's screen stopped working. However, the touch input seems working. I am able to unlock the phone with pattern and I can hear the unlock sound. Moreover I was also able to connect it to a pc over usb to copy files. However, that's not enough as I hadn't enabled necessary backups. I was trying to figure out a solution to this problem and came across this - https://www.samsung.com/sg/support/mobile-devices/how-to-access-data-even-if-your-galaxy-phones-touc.... Now I need to know if F62 supports HDMI output so that I can try this solution.

Many thanks in advance!

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your concern, we want to inform you that model f62 does not support HDMI outputs. you can try the below given steps on your device might be your issue has been resolved.

If the screen of the Galaxy device is broken or not working, so the user can't see or touch the screen to run something and back up the data, the user can back up the data by connecting the phone to an external monitor through Smart Switch.

You can’t see or touch the screen to operate and back up on the device, you can operate or back up from a connected external display(monitor, TV, etc.) through screen mirroring.

It is only supported on the Galaxy device with Android OS 12 or later version and Samsung DeX supported.

Preparation to use:
1. Galaxy phone (with broken screen) ( Android OS 12 or later version, Samsung DeX supported models).
2. USB-C to HDMI hub or adapter (with USB-A port).
3.External display(supported HDMI port), HDMI cable.
4. Mouse and Keyboard (wire/wireless).
5. New phone.

How to back up:
1. Connect the Monitor, Mouse, and Keyboard to the HDMI hub or adapter (Monitor to HDMI, Mouse/Keyboard to USB-A port).
2. Connect the Galaxy phone(with a broken screen) to the HDMI hub or adapter (to USB-C port) while pressing and holding the volume up/down buttons of the Galaxy phone simultaneously (you can release the buttons once your phone is connected).
3. If the phone screen is mirrored to the monitor, unlock it with your mouse or keyboard and run the Smart Switch app.
4. If the Samsung DeX screen appears on the monitor, tab Apps menu in the bottom left corner > tab Exit DeX to switch to the mirrored screen and run the Smart Switch app.
5. Run the Smart Switch both on the old and new phone and proceed to the step to send/receive the data.
* Smart Switch on the old phone(with broken screen) > tab ‘Send data’ > tab ‘Wireless’.
* Smart Switch on the new phone > tab ‘Receive data’ > tab ‘Galaxy’ > tab ‘Wireless’.

In case the issue still occurs please visit the service center for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service center with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support

Dear Expert, thank you for your response. I find your suggestion a bit contradicting. If my Galaxy F62 with broken screen doesn't support HDMI output, would it help following the suggested troubleshooting steps? Would the screen be mirrored to an external monitor using the USC type C to HDMI adapter without HDMI support by the host device(Galaxy F62)? I have no much tech knowledge of the data transfer protocols here. Clarification would be much appreciated.

As your touch is working so you can use a software named VYZOR.

1. Install it to your pc/laptop and connect your phone via USB.
2.When you will connect and open vyzor it will asks you for turning on the USB debugging and the turn on / allow option will pop up on your home screen.
3.By allowing you can use your phone screen on your PC and hence you can take necessary backups.

You'll get the pop up near to the navigation bar so touch according to that.
