Exactly, it the most ridiculous thing, but even if you decide to charge them the tax then give a prize that has the value of the MRP not like in this case that the MRP is 15k and he was asked to pay 3.6k but actually the object is in sale at 8k... it's not anymore a gift but a discount sale😂

Really appreciate..thats my point also. This doesn't make any sense.

Even the voucher they provide doesn't work while I try to purchase something. After applying the code it always says.. " the product is always in good price".. I'm really frustrated of these things.

It is a gift, the amount paid for the gift tax can be refunded to us by filing ITR in the following financial year.

Actually Samsung is lazy sometimes, they asked the Winner to pay tax instead of they paying and it's no scam

Yeah. No other brands does this.. recently snapdragon sent me a gift worth more than 50k without any charges.

When you participated in the contest, it was written in the terms and conditions CLEARLY that you have to bear any kind of taxes and charges required. You can refuse the gift if you don't want to pay. Simple. Other brands pay for the taxes, but here the TnCs of the contest mentions that the winner has to bear those.

Yeah that's totally my fault dear. And thank you very much for the response. 😊

Siddhartha, the amount paid for the gift tax can be claimed back or refunded by filing ITR in the following financial year, like you won it in 21/02/2023, so you can apply it this year. The financial year is from April 1 to March 31. Ignore it if you didn't pay.
