I have been seeing several people in this community who have updated their devices to the new Android 12. As of now selected devices in A-series have received Android 12 with OneUI 4.0.

Since it's Samsung we are talking about, you are expected to get some software bugs with the new OS upgrade and the Security Updates, all thanks to their own attempt to add more features to the base OS. Many times, a simple factory reset can resolve most of the issues.

Please read the post carefully. If you have any doubt ask in the comment. After resetting anywhere you are stuck, I cannot help much. Everything that I encounter when resetting is mentioned down in the post.

Important: Make sure the Google account you use (in case) should have the phone number that you use with your device. It will help in detecting the OTP sent by Google for logging in later.

Before performing Factory Reset, use Smart Switch to back up your device.

To fix most of the issues, it's better to reset your device. There are several ways to do it.

  1. Button Combo,
  2. Using ADB,
  3. From Settings.

PS: The immediate screenshot says more about the S-series device. But that doesn't matter much. You can try the first three categories, in order to check which method is supported by your device.

For 1, kindly follow the screenshot:

For 2, follow the following

As for how to Add ADB, refer to the following link.

For 3, Head to Settings > General Management > Reset > Factory Data Reset. It's simpler than 1, and 2. So I will recommend everyone this one, else if you are a p e ru or tech-savvy, you can use ADB. Now here, tap on reset. It will then ask for your Samsung Account password if there is any. Let it run, and set up your device again.

For 1 and 2, After you reboot to recovery, Use Volume up and down keys to navigate. You will see an option called Wipe data/factory reset. Once you move to this option, press Power Key Once. It will then ask again, select yes with the Volume key, and press Power Key to confirm. It will reset the device in a few minutes and show at the very bottom. Once done select Reboot System Now.

Now reconfigure your device.

PS: When you are done resetting, and start reconfiguring, it will pop up a message sometimes saying that the device has been reset please connect to the previously connected WiFi ( don't remember the exact wording), do not panic, and reconnect to the WiFi network you usually use. Then a new screen might come which will ask for your phone PIN (that you had before formatting) and has the option to add Google Account. After that during the setup of a Google Account, all you have to tap on the option Send Verification Message to xxxxxxxx,  if the same number is on your device it will detect the OTP automatically. After you are done logging in, it will ask you to either add the previous account or add a new account. Select the Previous account in this case.

Important: Many are complaining about the battery performance just after the new OPS upgrade. It is worth noting that after the major updates, Android auto optimizes the battery performance algorithm, which takes a week, at max, or more, depending on your usage. so no need to worry much about the battery performance. Moreover, Li-Ion batteries tend to lose performance after a certain charge cycle and due to aging. Even if you are not getting better performance with the battery, it either has started losing its capacity due to aging or due to your foolishness of charging the device from 0 to 100 at once, or plugging the device for charging every now and then. Also, refrain from overnight charging.

After getting OTA Update for Android 12 & after updating it I faced several bugs in my S20 FE 5G. I flashed the One UI 4 Rom via Odin on my FE but still some jitteryness is seen I the UI & Notification panel In 120 Hz mode. Rear camera quality is downgraded drastically, HDR isn't working. I thought lets wait for the Jan update, may be the bugs will be solved. But after the Jan update too, still issues are there . SD 865 is quite a capable SoC and I felt that it's the Software Optimization issue for which this jitteryness is seen. So, I thought lets downgrade to Android 11 One Ui 3.1 firmware. I flashed it via Odin and boom 💥 S20 FE is back in its own form. Everything is butter smooth, no jitteryness, no HDR issue in Rear Camera.. Everything is perfectly fine. So according to my opinion, we should wait for 3 to 4 months after a major OS Upgrade is rolled out and then we should upgrade our OS in order to get a bug free experience. In 3 to 4 months all the bugs naturally got solved. I saw this OS Upgrade issue from Android 8 -> 9 -> 10 .. to 12. It's quite obvious that a major OS Upgrade will take some time to be fully optimized.
