I used to use a Xiaomi phone running on Android 11, and a few days ago, I switched to a Galaxy device, which is working great. However, I'm facing a problem: while I'm playing games and on a call, my proximity sensor doesn't turn off. I understand that the proximity sensor is important when I'm using the earpiece, but since I'm connected to wired earphones, the proximity sensor should have turned off. Unfortunately, it doesn't, and often my finger covers the proximity sensor, causing my screen to turn off. I find this very frustrating since it shouldn't happen while using wired earphones. Is there a fix for this issue?

Um, wireless earphones for gaming? Are you sure, bro? They have latency. I think this is a software bug. But thanks for the reply, though

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your concern, we want to inform you that your device has a Proximity sensor, It's located at the top of the phone, although the exact position will vary by model. Clean the front of the device with a clean, soft cloth. However, kindly perform the following steps to resolve your issue:

● Diagnosing issues with the proximity sensor from the Samsung Members app:
Step 1. Open the Samsung Members app and select Get Support at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2. Tap View tests located under Diagnostics.
Step 3. Select Proximity recognition to automatically begin diagnostics.
Step 4. Follow the on-screen directions and put your palms close to, but not touching the top of the screen.
Step 5. After finishing diagnostics, you can immediately check your device status results on your screen.

● Remove any accessories: Third-party protective films, cases, stickers, or glass screen protectors may block the sensor and should be removed. It is recommended to use Samsung Authorized accessories only.

In case the issue still occurs, please visit the service center for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service center with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support

Hello, thank you so much for your reply. My proximity sensor is working fine; there's no issue. I've talked to many people and also searched online forums. I found that this is a feature in Android 13 and later models. Before that, when your phone was connected to a wired earphone, the proximity sensor stopped working. However, after Android 13, the proximity sensor remains active while your phone is connected to the earphone, which can be problematic.

Often, when I play online games with my friends while on a call, my fingers block the proximity sensor while my wired earphone is also connected. This causes the screen to turn off, which is very frustrating. Is there a way for my feedback to reach the One UI development team so that this issue can be addressed? Thank you!
