Yes you can
Go to settings->apps
Select your app and force stop. But which apps you want to stop, I hope not system apps

Some important apps may cause malfunction, for others you won't notice a problem..

Dear, force stop is recommended when trying to fix a misbehaving App. 1). It kills of the current running instance of that App. 2). The App will no longer be accessing any of it's cache files. Hence, force stop is used as a last resort. Except emergency case, don't opt this operation. THX.
