File Transfer from Computer

Does anyone know why most phones with type C ports struggle to connect to computer via USB? I needed to transfer files from my computer to the phone but it charges the phone, no option to transfer files etc pops up after plugging USB in.

My device has USB type C and my laptop has a Type C port....works fine

Eish, the phone port is Type C but the computer has Type A

How old is the machine, maybe USB driver update?

Solution is to open settings app l,scroll down to the last optional of settings, tap on developer option and tap on USB configuration,you'll find the option on the connection to the computer

Under default USB Configuration, it's set to Transferring Files but it still doesn't read on the computer
