Can someone explain to me how the Extra Ram feature on Galaxy devices work, or for what instance it works in? Because I have over 50 GB of phone memory left, but when I check Device Care - it only lists 4 GB, and my apps still close because of a shortage of RAM despite the setting being turned on. (I have it at 4 GB extra.)

Can someone please explain, or take the feature out completely to streamline Android on Galaxy's and make it smaller and faster. (For a mobile OS)

Thanks

The last time I saw a benefit of RAM Plus was on One UI 5. After that, nothing. I'd recommend turning it off

They it's to help keep more apps open in the background but it makes your phone slower and battery draining

The main reason was why, when that feature was turned on, did my apps still close because of RAM shortage. Does the Extra RAM actually work?

They must cut it away if it doesn't. It would make Android on a Galaxy faster, and smaller. 😡

From what I understood:

1. Z-RAM in an area in the actual physical RAM that store compressed data. It compress background data or least used data or old unused data to save space in the RAM.

2. Z-RAM Writeback, when you set RAM plus to 6GB (for example), you are basically telling the phone to extend the Z-RAM to internal storage. So, 6GB of Z-RAM is allocated on the internal storage. When the RAM gets too full, least used or oldest data stored in Z-RAM are moved to internal storage.

I think the whole process of compressing, decompressing and moving is what cause battery drain, lags, etc. So, enable it if you are multitasking user or you don't want apps to start from 0 too frequently..

The goal of ram plus is to use your ssd as extra ram. Ssd have was slower righting speed then ram, so it slows your phone. It allows apps to open a bit longer but it does not work that well anymore.

Are the apps that close "games" ?

Normal apps are fine, and they work. But 'games' are four, or five times bigger than apps; and my Galaxy's memory struggles with those. 😥
