Galaxy A1. Z-RAM in an area in the actual physical RAM that store compressed data. It compress background data or least used data or old unused data to save space in the RAM.
2. Z-RAM Writeback, when you set RAM plus to 6GB (for example), you are basically telling the phone to extend the Z-RAM to internal storage. So, 6GB of Z-RAM is allocated on the internal storage. When the RAM gets too full, least used or oldest data stored in Z-RAM are moved to internal storage.
I think the whole process of compressing, decompressing and moving is what cause battery drain, lags, etc. So, enable it if you are multitasking user or you don't want apps to start from 0 too frequently..
