Does internet gets disconnected when phone is in sleep mode ?

I often use WhatsApp web on my desktop. But for that I need to keep my phone on charging or keep the screen on. If screen is turned off and phone is not charging, I often get disconnected from WhatsApp web.

How to solve this ?

I am using Samsung A51

It's because of Samsung Max. 

Turn off Battery Optimisation for Samsung Max.

There was 1-2 message saying phone is not connected but it disappeared much quicker than before. I did not had to wake my phone...

I found the exact problem...
.
It's because of Samsung Max VPN.
Internet traffic goes through it when I turn it On.
And if Samsung Max app is Battery Optimised, Samsung Max app stops working in background when phone goes in sleep mode and hence, the traffic is blocked.
.
Today I turned off battery optimisation for Samsung Max, then there was no lag, no disconnection at any point of time.
