Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

Basis your query regarding the automatic display turning on issue with your device. I would share some quick steps with you that might help you solve your issue.

1. Restart your device
On devices with a Power key: Press and hold the Power key, and then tap Restart. Tap Restart again to restart your device.
On devices with a Side key: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel. Tap the Power icon, and then tap Restart. Tap Restart again to restart your device.

If the touchscreen isn’t working at all, you can restart your device by pressing and holding the Volume down key and the Power key/Side key simultaneously for 10 seconds. Once it turns off, you can turn your device back on by pressing the Power key or Side key again.

2. Check your charger
If your charger is damaged, it may not supply power to your device, which may cause the touch screen to malfunction. In this case, use a different, undamaged charger to prevent this issue. It’s also a good idea to avoid using the touchscreen when the device is charging.

3. Check for software updates
Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If new software is available, you can choose to Install it now or Schedule an installation.

4. Optimize device performance
The Device Care feature will improve your phone's overall performance by scanning for wasted storage space and other potential issues. Navigate to and open Settings > Battery and device care > Optimize now.

5. Disable Touch sensitivity
The Device Care feature will improve your phone's overall performance by scanning for wasted storage space and other potential issues. Navigate to and open Settings > Battery and device care > Optimize now.

Note: The Edge Touch screen areas may not work properly due to the touch sensitivity may be weakened as this area is narrowed due to finger contact with the bezel part. It is not a device defect but a normal operation by design structure.

6. Reboot the phone in safe mode
Booting your smartphone in safe mode is also another option to find out if the screen still flickers or not. Safe mode is like a diagnostic tool to help identify the problems on your device.

Step 1: Turn off your device then power it on.
Step 2: When the Samsung logo appears by itself, press and hold the Volume Down key.
Step 3: The device will switch on in Safe mode. Safe mode will be displayed on the bottom left of the screen.
If the screen works in safe mode, an app is most likely causing your issue. Remove recently downloaded apps one by one until the problem is fixed. If the problem persists when your device is running in Safe mode, the problem might not be related to an app.

To exit safe mode, restart your device.

7. Back up and Factory Reset
A factory reset, also known as a hard reset or master reset, is an effective, last-resort method of troubleshooting for mobile phones. It will restore your phone to its original factory settings, erasing all your data in the process. Because of this, it's important to back up the information before you do a factory reset.

After performing the troubleshooting steps if the issue still persists, kindly get back to us with additional information- Error log file, video, or screen-shots. This will help us to further investigate and resolve your concern.

Please share the device log file within 15 minutes of the issue occurrence by using the error report option via the Samsung Member application. To share a log file, click on Samsung Members Application > Support>> Type your issue>> Tap on error report >> Tap on send.

Note: To ensure relevant log information is included in the error report, submit the report within 3 minutes of encountering the bug or error, and do not terminate (swipe away) the Samsung Members application until you are notified that the report has been sent. This can take up to 5 minutes.

Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support
