I don't know whether it's 5g update because I don't have airtel thanks app as I am jio user.

There are users claiming that this is a 5g update..one of them even showed a screenshot wherein 5g symbol was displayed

I installed it and tested in airtel app without sim, its saying my handset is not 5g.

It is indeed a 5g update, I checked the airtel app and now it shows 5g enabled handset.

Now need to find a 5g location 😀
