An Open Appeal to Samsung Mobile Regarding the Galaxy A52s 5G Update Policy
To the Samsung Mobile Leadership Team,
We are writing to you as loyal customers who appreciate the quality and performance your mid-range devices deliver, particularly the exceptional Galaxy A52s 5G. This device quickly achieved legendary status in the market due to its superb value proposition and robust internals.
Our current frustration, however, stems from a clear inconsistency in your software commitment that feels arbitrary and unfair to your most dedicated users.
The Technical Paradox: Identical Hearts, Separate Fates
The core of this issue lies in the identical hardware shared by the Galaxy A52s 5G and the Galaxy A73 5G.
Shared Foundation: Both devices are powered by the highly capable and well-optimized Snapdragon 778G chipset. They share the same processing power, demonstrating equal capacity to run modern, demanding software.
The Policy Divide: Despite this hardware parity, the A52s 5G is slated to end its feature updates at One UI 6 (Android 14), while the A73 5G is confirmed to receive future updates, including One UI 8 (Android 16).
The only difference separating these update cycles is the device launch date and the subsequent policy applied (3 years vs. 4 years of OS support). This means that the A52s 5G is being artificially retired not because of technical limitation, but due to a timeline established a few months before its sibling, the A73 5G.
A Plea for Policy Flexibility
We understand the need for update policies. However, when two devices share the exact same core hardware—the engine required to run the new software—and one is left behind, the decision feels like a betrayal of the device’s potential and the customer's investment. The A52s 5G is more than capable of running future versions of One UI.
We urge Samsung to recognize the unique position of the Galaxy A52s 5G. Please consider extending its major OS support to match the Galaxy A73 5G, allowing this powerful and popular device to receive at least One UI 7 (Android 15) and One UI 8 (Android 16).
A policy exception, in this case, would demonstrate a profound respect for the hardware's true capabilities and would reinforce the immense loyalty of the customer base that championed the A52s 5G as a classic Samsung device.
Thank you for your consideration of this passionate request.
