Me and my staff at my seller points always advise buyer to first CHECK THE SUPPORT LIFE DETAILS OF HANDSETS than its specification and always read the documentation
But i hardly seen anyone who cares about support life , cause besides the policy there are few certain exceptions for which some of these consumers after 2 years or later make hue and cry for OS updates
FOR PLATFORM which will support upto what OS can be found via various authentic sources like gsmarena or gadget360 etc , they do this for you
Exceptions
1. Some devices only do get one OS update even policy says 2 OS updates
2. Some devices do get more than 3 years support
3. Enterprise and special edition devices are out of usual policy , they get 4 years plus support
Good luck

it is always better to buy mobiles with latest processors and max frequencies access. Then you can use safely for few years. Buying old processors because you get discounts will land in update problems. Think.
