Introduction

The Galaxy Camera offers a wide range of features after having undergone extensive review and optimization to ensure that anyone can use them easily and conveniently.

However, if settings designed to accommodate a wide range of shooting styles were all included in the default configuration, the screen could become cluttered, potentially making the interface difficult to use.

Camera Assistant is an app that provides advanced settings according to your shooting style while maintaining the core usability of the Galaxy camera, and it can be downloaded from Good Lock or the Galaxy Store.

2x crop zoom shortcut

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

By cropping the high-resolution sensor, you can capture photos and videos with image quality comparable to an optical lens, even at 2x zoom.

If you wish to minimize image quality degradation when shooting with 2x zoom, we recommend enabling this option.

※ On Ultra models, which support 10x crop zoom and 100x zoom, the zoom buttons are provided as shown below.

Zoom shortcuts

- Advanced settings: 2x / 10x / 100x

Auto lens switching

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Video, Food, Night 

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

The device automatically selects the optimal lens for shooting, taking into account factors such as the shooting environment, distance of the subject, and brightness.

If you disable this option, you can shoot using your selected lens without any switching.

Auto zoom in Flex mode

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Zoom on center, Zoom on people

※ This feature is supported only on the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

You can select the auto zoom method to apply when taking photos in Flex Mode on the Cover Screen.

Prioritize focus over speed

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

When taking photos, the camera immediately captures the image the moment you press the shutter button, even if the focus is not yet fully locked.

By enabling this option, you can configure the camera to take the photo only after the focus has been completely set.

Touch AF/AE in Pro Video Mode

- Applicable Modes: Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Adjust both AF/AE during recording / Adjust only AF during recording

In Pro Video mode, touching the preview screen while recording allows you to adjust both AF and AE simultaneously, or adjust AF only, depending on your settings.

Focus peaking in pro modes

- Applicable Modes: Pro, Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Always show focus peaking / Color / Line Thickness

In Pro and Pro Video modes, you can configure Focus Peaking to remain constantly visible while manually adjusting focus, and customize its color and line thickness.

Auto focus speed and sensitivity

- Applicable Modes: Portrait, Photo, Video, Pro, Pro Video, Portrait Video

- Advanced Settings: Transition speed / Shift sensitivity

You can configure how quickly the autofocus shifts and how sensitively it responds to changes in the subject while shooting photos and videos.

Quick tap shutter

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

A photo is typically captured when you press and release the shutter button.  Enabling this option allows you to capture a photo the instant the shutter button is pressed, thereby increasing the shooting response speed.

In the following situations, a photo is taken first:

• When you slide the shutter button up to make it float
• When you slide the capture button down to take burst shots or GIF
• When you press and hold the capture button in photo mode to record a video

Swipe Shutter button to edge to

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Take burst shots / take GIF

You can enable a feature to activate when you slide the shutter button to the edge of the screen. This feature is available in Camera Assistant starting with One UI 8.5.

Timer multi-photo options

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Portrait, Pro, Night

- Advanced Settings:

① Number of Shots: 1, 3, 5, 7

② Shooting Interval: 1s, 1.5s, 2s, 2.5s, 3s

By setting a timer, you can capture multiple photos continuously at the set interval without having to press the shutter button again.

This is useful for taking group photos or selfies using a tripod.

Video recording in Photo mode

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

If you press and hold the shutter button in Photo mode, you can start recording a video immediately without switching to video mode. If this feature interferes when you are trying to take photos, you can disable the option.

Auto HDR

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Portrait, Night

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

HDR (High Dynamic Range) expresses the details in bright and dark areas in a balanced way. Since the results of your shots may vary depending on whether HDR is applied, try adjusting this setting according to the situation.

Photo softening

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Portrait

- Advanced Settings: Off / Medium / High

With the default settings, photos are captured with sharp, detailed textures.

If you wish to render the lines and textures in your photos more softly, you can enable this option. This is particularly effective for portraits, where skin and hair are captured with a soft, smooth texture.

Distortion correction

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Portrait

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

It automatically corrects image distortion that occurs when shooting with the rear ultra-wide/wide lens and the front wide-angle field of view in Photo mode.

Advanced Photo mode controls

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Minimum shutter speed / Maximum ISO / White balance control / Exposure value control

Pro controls have been added to Photo Mode, allowing you to adjust white balance and exposure values. You can also set the minimum shutter speed and maximum ISO value to reduce blur and noise.

Shutter speed and ISO limits apply only when shooting at 12MP.

24MP Resolution

- Applicable Modes: Photo

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

You can add an option to shoot at 24MP resolution in Photo mode.

However, the resolution may be reduced depending on the zoom level or camera settings.

If you frequently use 24MP resolution, you can enable the "Maintain 24MP Resolution" option.

※ 24MP filming saves images at 24MP resolution within specific zoom ranges, depending on the model: S26/S26+ (1x–1.9x) and S26U (0.6x–1.9x, 5x–9.9x). However, under certain conditions, images will be saved at 12MP.

Adaptive pixel

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

Adaptive Pixel is a technology that automatically adjusts the number of pixels according to scene characteristics and lighting conditions during high-resolution shooting to expand the light-receiving area.

When shooting at 200MP or 50MP, it switches to 50MP or 12MP depending on the lighting conditions, captures the image, and then applies image upscaling to save it at the final resolution.

If you do not want to use the Adaptive Pixel feature during high-resolution shooting, you can set the option to 'Off'.

Upscale digital zoom

- Applicable Modes: Photo, Pro

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

When taking photos with high-resolution settings, the area in the zoom magnification is cropped, and image upscaling is applied to save the image at the specified resolution.

If you do not wish to use this feature, you can set the option to ‘Off.

HDR10+

- Applicable Modes: Video, Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

※ Applied to the Galaxy S25 series and subsequent flagship models.

You can optimize color and contrast when shooting videos and Pro videos.

This feature is available only when HDR is enabled in [Camera Settings > Advanced Video Options].

Optical image stabilization

- Applicable Mode: Video Recording Mode

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

Even when video stabilization is disabled, optical image stabilization remains active during recording.

To completely disable image stabilization, you must also turn off the Video stabilization feature in the camera settings.

Video softening

- Applicable Modes: Video Recording Mode

- Advanced Settings: Off / Medium / High

You can adjust the sharpness of the video quality to express the texture of the video more smoothly.

Dim screen while recording

- Applicable Modes: Video Recording Mode

- Advanced Settings: Off, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes

You can reduce battery consumption by dimming the screen brightness during extended video recording sessions. If no input is detected for a certain period while recording video, the screen will dim after the specified time has elapsed; tapping the screen will restore its brightness.

8K recording on mirroring

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

※ This feature is supported only on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

You can use 8K recording during screen mirroring via Smart View or HDMI connection.

Presets in Pro mode

- Applicable Modes: Pro

- Advanced Settings: Create from current settings / Create from photo settings

You can create presets for the ISO, shutter speed, exposure value, focus, and white balance settings used in Pro mode, and share them via Quick Share.

You can import such specific configuration from your current camera settings or from a saved photo to create a preset.

3D capture

- Applicable Mode: Photo, Video

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

※ This is available on the Galaxy S25 series and subsequent flagship models.

You can add a 3D capture option at the top of the camera screen to capture photos and videos that can be enjoyed with a sense of spatial depth on the Galaxy XR headset.

Additional modes

 - Applicable Modes: Night, Single take, Dual recording

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

For models that support Night, Single take, or Dual recording modes, starting with One UI 8.5, you must enable these modes in Camera Assistant for them to appear in the ‘More’ menu of the Camera app.

※ The provision method may vary by model.

Camera timeout

- Applicable Modes: During camera preview (excluding the settings screen)

- Advanced Settings: 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes

If no input is detected for a certain period while using the Camera app, it will automatically close to reduce battery consumption. If the automatic shutdown interval feels too short, you can adjust the setting to 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes to suit your specific usage needs.

Clean preview on HDMI displays

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

On an external display connected via HDMI, both the camera app's UI elements and the preview video are displayed together. Using this setting, you can display only the preview video without the UI.

Customize indicators

- Advanced Settings: Photo Indicators, Video Indicators

You can select the default indicators to be displayed in photo and video shooting modes. Indicators will not be displayed in modes that do not support these settings.

DOF adapter correction

- Applicable Modes: Pro, Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

When shooting with an external lens attached via a DOF (Depth of Field) adapter, this feature corrects the phenomenon where the video appears rotated 180 degrees.

Anamorphic lens correction

- Applicable Modes: Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Off / x1.33 / x1.55 / x2.0

Anamorphic lenses are designed to compress images horizontally, enabling capture with a wider field of view. During shooting, the system corrects for image distortion based on the lens' compression ratio. You can configure the settings to precisely match the specific compression ratio of the anamorphic lens currently in use.

TILTA wireless lens controller

- Applicable Modes: Pro Video

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

You can use the TILTA wireless lens controller to adjust manual focus in Pro Video mode, as well as to start or stop video recording.

Audio monitoring

- Applicable Modes: Video, Slow-mo, Portrait Video, Dual recording

- Advanced Settings: Off / On

This feature allows you to monitor audio input through the microphone in real time while recording a video. Once enabled, you can monitor the audio being captured by the microphone in real time through currently connected external devices such as HDMI, USB-C earphones, or Bluetooth earphones/speakers while in video recording mode.
