I have restarted my phone so many times. I have updated my phone but nothing. So that means this could be a hardware problem?

Boot into Safe Mode (check app conflict)
Sometimes 3rd party apps break biometric services.
How:
Hold Power button
Hold “Power Off”
Tap Safe Mode
Test fingerprint.
If it works → some app is causing the issue → uninstall recent apps.

Also Clean the sensor properly (very common fix)
Fingerprint sensors stop working from:
sweat
pocket dust
oil
screen protector glue (if under-display)

You can also Test it in Samsung diagnostics mode(but do at own risk)

This tells us software vs hardware.
Dial:*#0*#
Tap: Sensors -Fingerprint
Responds- software problem
No response- hardware problem

Most likely hardware

In Samsung diagnostics:
Shows values -sensor alive
Shows error -sensor responding but faulty
Shows N/A- sensor disconnected / dead
So the system isn’t even communicating with it.
