RBI gave approval for tokenised payment in wearable devices way back in August 2021. But after all these years Samsung wallet(Samsung Pay) hasn't been approved in India for galaxy watch 4 or 5 series. Samsung doesn't consider Indian market seriously. Not giving half of features in its wearable devices. Samsung pay is a feature for which many buys galaxy watch but they get disappointed at the end. Common Samsung you have so big software team, can't you enable this much requested payment app in India.

I too agree, this is a big utility and use case for smart watches. It should be taken seriously and delivered soon.

Defeats the purpose of getting the LTE version completely. Esp when our daily transactions are mainly through UPI/cards. Hopefully we get this feature soon!

Why would you need the LTE version to pay?

We don't. With lte version we can carry only the watch (For calls and transactions).
In the BT version we still need the phone/internet(wifi, etc) with us for payments, I believe.
So my purpose of lte version, one device for all needs. Well....most🙂.

You don't need anything except NFC for payments (if they bring the feature ofcourse). For calls, yes, you do need the phone...

Generally speaking, Samsung doesn't take the Premium segment of the Indian market seriously. It makes up a very tiny percentage of all their sales, so they ignore it. It's a shame really, to demote such good products by not giving crucial features. Just to use a simple feature like Samsung Pay on their watch, people have to perform such elaborate workarounds... 🫤
