J7 to A54

Ive been trying to connect my external HDD to my A54 but the phone keeps crashing and restarting if it even reads the HDD, why is that?

Note, ive been connecting the same hdd to my j7 for years now without a problem.

Thanks, i figured as much, but how can an old(6 year old) phone have a better power management system than a new supposedly better phone?

I ask bcos my phones back up are on the external, but when i get the time i will look for the pwered otg.👍👍

You can buy a USB-C Hub that allows your charger to plugged in and it will work fine as long as you have your charger connected to it to charge your phone, it will provide power to your hdd as well. I use that solution.
