While some of you may already be familiar with Stretch Font on the Lock screen, which has been available since One UI 8.0, we'd like to introduce this feature and explain how to set it up for those who might have missed it.
Stretch Font is a feature that automatically adjusts the length of the numbers to fit the background image of the Lock screen. Since the clock is adjusted so that it won't cover the subjects in the photo, you can decorate your Lock screen in a more stylish way.
1. What is Stretch Font for? - Recognizes the subjects in the Wallpaper image - Adjusts the vertical length of the clock numbers to make them blend seamlessly with the background image.
2. When can the Stretch effect be applied? - If the background image is a photo selected from Gallery - If there is a subject such as people, animals, or objects in the photo - (One UI 8.0) Photos with people or animals - (One UI 8.5) Will be applied to images where outlines are recognized - If the outline of the subject is relatively clear - If a clock style that supports Stretch Font is selected - The Stretch effect works with only 2 styles from the Clock list.
3. Here's how to set it up! Path: Settings > Wallpaper and style > Lock screen > Clock > Font and color > Second font ① Choose a photo you like from the Gallery and set it as the background. ② Select Stretch Font and a clock style from the Font and color list. ③ Adjust the clock color, thickness, and location as you desire, and you're done!
4. Recommended for those who - Decorate their Lock screen with photos - Have felt disappointed when the clock covers the subject - Prefer an automatically adjusted UI over simple customization
With Stretch Clock, create a Lock screen where photos and the clock blend seamlessly.
Firmware/Software updates push the device to peak performance, generating significant heat. That thermal stress can expose weak points in the OLED display—especially fragile internal connections—leading to permanent display lines. . . This isn’t normal wear and tear. It points to an underlying design or manufacturing flaw. . . Samsung has a responsibility to address such core issues. . Instead, they are choosing to deny accountability and shift the burden onto customers—asking them to pay for what is clearly a defect. That’s not just disappointing, it’s unacceptable. . . Multiple users reporting it after updates, yet Samsung continues to show negligence by shifting the cost onto customers instead of acknowledging the problem. . . In my case as well, the display issue appeared immediately after an official update, but it is still being treated as a chargeable repair since one goodwill support was already given. . . So Samsung’s solution is simple: 👉 Push update 👉 Screen gets line issue 👉 Say “out of warranty” 👉 Charge ₹12,000 from Customer . . What makes this worse? Posts exposing this issue mysteriously get removed once they start gaining high views and traction on Samsung Members. . . If Samsung spent half the effort fixing the issue instead of removing high-view posts, customers wouldn’t be this frustrated. . . Removing posts only after they gain attention makes it look less like moderation and more like damage control. Silencing genuine customer complaints will never erase the problem. . . https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S/Repeated-Vertical-Pink-Line-Issue-After-Software-Update... . . This feature is good but when will the depth effect feature come in it and this is the only clock style in it, hence it should have different clock styles like this. 🙏
There's still a problem if you set wallpaper using modes and routines. - Set your lockscreen wallpaper directly by adjusting the image and clock. - Now, create 2-3 modes with lockscreen wallpaper, adjusting their positions. - When another mode activates, your clock position changes automatically.
I want to turn it off. I have a wallpaper where when I just want to use the same font style but without the stretch effect, it simply doesn't work and keeps on stretching, no matter where I place the clock. There should be an option to turn off the stretch effect.
