Got android 11 on m31s but need a gesture or a key to open torch even when phone is locked

you can set torch as side key

Go to settings > Advanced features > Side key > select torch as side key

there is no select option for torch

once long press power key as just like to switch off and check is there any side key option?

Ehsank there is no option for getting torch onto side key ,earlier I had OP3 and I could open torch by writing V on the screen or two dashes to open music etc

u can use one hand operation + and customise torch with gestures

Long press power button
Click on sidekey settings
Turn on double press
Select torch from open app.

torch is not a app ,maybe I need to download a torch app from playstore

no need of downloading an app
click on open app
the first one you will see is torch
