Tech TalkThe legions of Samsung Galaxy A50 owners should brace themselves for an impending One UI 2.0 update
The Samsung Galaxy A50 is a good phone, offering a lot of features to buyers who aren’t interested in spending hundreds (or thousands) on the South Korean manufacturer’s latest flagship smartphone. The Galaxy A50 was initially released in February 2019 and has entered several sales charts due to its high popularity. The consulting company Kantar stated it was the best-selling smartphone in Europe last year, and Counterpoint Research showed it to be the third best-selling phone in the world for the third quarter of 2019.
Upon release, the Samsung Galaxy A50 operated on One UI (Android 9 Pie version). However, considering the phone’s incredible pick-up rate among customers, with at least 12 million units shipped in 2019 according to one source, it’s no surprise Samsung wants to make sure Galaxy A50 users reap the benefits of an Android 10-based One UI 2.0 operating system. It was believed that this smartphone, praised for its good display and great performance, would receive a software update by April 2020.
However, a Wi-Fi Alliance certificate for the Samsung Galaxy A50, spotted by PiunikaWeb, gives hope to owners that they might even receive the One UI 2.0 update ahead of schedule. The certificate is dated February 5 and it states that model SM-A505FN/DS (which is the global market variant) has Android 10 as its operating system. With this in mind, it seems the millions of Galaxy A50 buyers should find their favorite smartphone notifying them of an update to One UI 2.0 soon.
