The Sensor Off toggle in the Quick Settings Developer Tiles within the Developer Options on an Android phone allows you to quickly disable all sensors on the device with a single tap. This includes the camera, microphone, accelerometer, gyroscope, and other sensors. When enabled, apps and services won’t be able to access these sensors, enhancing privacy.

Here’s how you can enable it :-

1. Go to Settings > About phone and tap Build number multiple times to enable Developer Options if they aren’t already enabled.

2. Go back to Settings, navigate to System > Developer options, then find and tap Quick Settings Developer Tiles.

3. Enable Sensor Off.

Once you add this toggle, a tile named Sensors Off will appear in your Quick Settings. When you activate it, your phone will disable access to most hardware sensors, and apps relying on them won’t function fully.

It provides added privacy and also improves battery backup, because sensors are shut. You can enable them with just one tap in your Quick Setting Tiles in case you need those sensors for Calling or taking pictures etc.

Tip :- I use it at night when I am not using my device. This reduces idle drain significantly on my Galaxy S20 FE.

Yeah, you are absolutely right. It's totally optional. Removing permission means whenever you have to use the app you'll have to agree to those permissions again. With this 'Sensor Off' toggle you can immediately cut of their access to some of the sensors and since it is just a toggle you can turn it off to make all sensors active again.

With banking apps there may be prompt about Developer options being turned on. Some apps directly refuse to launch but some apps just warn you and works normally.

For me personally it gives added battery life. I mean idle drain is like 2% overnight. Idle drain is a huge drawback for me since my device has Exynos 990.

It has some added complexity and walk-around but serves my purpose.

Hope this helps you getting my point. 🙏
