A new petition has now appeared on Change.org that requests Samsung to stop using Exynos processors in its phones. The petition also questions the use of ISOCELL sensors instead of Sony’s camera sensors in Exynos variants of Samsung’s smartphones.

The online petition has now gathered the backing of more than 15,000 consumers, with the target set at 25,000 signatures. It is claimed in the petition that Exynos chipsets perform worse than their Snapdragon counterparts in terms of processing speed, heat management, and power consumption.

The petition was started by Daniel H. four days ago. It states that “phones with Exynos SoC chips are shown to perform slower, have less battery life, use inferior camera sensors and processing, overheat and throttle faster, amongst other issues.

There have been reports which show that variants of the Galaxy S20 phones using the Exynos 990 chipset have slower CPU and GPU performance, higher clock speed throttling, inefficient heat management, and worse battery life in comparison to the variants with the Snapdragon 865 chipset.

Every year Samsung releases a new high-end phone, the Exynos vs. Snapdragon issue pops and consumers complain, with no specific way to know for sure if it’s the issue with the hardware design or Samsung’s software optimization techniques or both.

We think that the company knows about this issue, which is why it has stalled the development of its custom Mongoose CPU coreslaid off the entire CPU dev team in Austin R&D center, and announced to use AMD’s Radeon graphics technology in its upcoming smartphone chipsets.

Do you think Samsung can put all Exynos related issues behind it and develop a chipset that matches Snapdragon processors in the next couple of years?
