Smartphone cameras are developing in a way that soon we could see a camera sensor beyond the human eye. First came the 48MP camera sensor from both Samsung and Sony. It was named as IMX 586 by Sony and Isocell GM1 by Samsung. The 48MP sensor flooded the Smartphone market. Every Single Chinese OEM Smartphones came with a 48MP sensor. But the Sony’s sensor was famous among them. After the popularity of 48MP sensor Samsung took the right step and built a 64MP Sensor. It was named as Isocell GW1. It was first adopted by Realme and then by Xiaomi. The respective phones were Realme Xt and Redmi Note 8 Pro. But 64 MP sensors didn’t show as much popularity as the 48MP sensor. Then Sony’s 64MP sensor came with the name IMX 686. Only one phone acquired it which was from Xiaomi named as Redmi K30 in global and Poco X2 in India. But companies didn’t stop here. Samsung again went one step ahead and made the World’s first 108MP sensor with the name Isocell Bright Hmx. It was also the first sensor to break the biggest sensor record in smartphone history. It is measured 1/1.33 inch. Though it was soon broke by Sony with its IMX 700 which was measured 1/1.28 inch. It is in the new launched Huawei’s P40 pro. But it is not a 108MP sensor. It is a 52MP sensor. But the biggest record is that 108MP sensor. It is quad pixel sensor with ¼ Th pixel binning technology. The actual image resolution is around 27MP. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t take 108MP shots. But 27MP is the last resolution with which HDR shots can be taken. This sensor was first in the MI 10 and then MI 10 pro. Samsung’s own flagship also comes with a 108MP sensor. But there is a misleading that is the sensor is same or different? Well they are two different sensors. Mi is using Isocell Bright Hmx while Samsung is using Isocell Bright HM1. It is a custom made sensor by Samsung for its flagship. It measures same as the HMX but it is a Nona Binning sensor. It bines the 108MP into 12MP resulting in a sharper image than HMX. It is also defined as the second GEN of 108MP sensor. But Samsung is also not happy with that. They are on their way with a 150MP sensor. It will be 1/1.2 inch sensor with Nona Pixel Binning. But they are not stopping with that too. They are also on their way to make the world’s first 600MP sensor which is beyond the human eye. We all know that our eyes are somewhat around 550Mpxls. But they are going beyond it. And if they are successful in their experiment it will be a greatest Discovery in the smartphone history.
