Samsung reportedly working on AirDrop-like file sharing feature
Samsung seems to be working on a feature similar to Apple's AirDrop, which will make file sharing between the two Galaxy phones a real piece of cake. As reported by XDA Developers, Samsung's file-sharing tool will be dubbed as Quick Share. It's said to be an app exclusively designed for Galaxy phones that work just like most other nearby-sharing services. All you have to do is be near another user with a supported device running Quick Share to share pictures, videos, or files.
The Quick Share app will come with two options for sharing: contacts only or with everyone. As the name suggests, the "Contacts-only" option will allow users to share files only with other Samsung Social users who you have in your contacts. "Everyone" option, on the other hand, will let you send or receive files from anyone with a supported device in your area.
Unlike the AirDrop, the Samsung Quick Share app will reportedly come with complimentary cloud storage. "It (Quick Share) will let you temporarily upload files to Samsung Cloud. These files will then be streamed to Samsung Smart Things devices and downloaded locally. These files can be up to 1GB with a total of 2GBs being sent per day," added the report.
Samsung is expected to launch Quick Share with the Galaxy S20 series, which is scheduled to launch on February 11th at an event in New York. The app does not exist on any other One UI 1.0/1.5 or One UI 2 devices at the moment, which means it could come included on all devices launching with One UI 2.1 and later. These are unconfirmed reports though, so we advise you to take the launch timeline with a pinch of salt since release plans may change any moment.
