Not too long ago, Samsung merged its consumer electronics and mobile department and bought some new talent on board. It also plans on reshaping its corporate structure to encourage younger talent. Now, the new Samsung executives have assembled for a two-day company-wide meeting to discuss its plans for 2022.

Sources familiar with the matter told Yonhap that the meeting will be attended by “hundreds” of top executives from around the world. The formerly in-person meeting has been moved online in light of the current circumstances. It is the first meeting between Samsung’s two newly-created divisions, namely DX (Device Experience) and DS (Device Solutions).

The former consists of Samsung Foundries and the likes, while the other houses more consumer-facing businesses like smartphones and household appliances. Both departments will undoubtedly need to work in tandem to ensure that Samsung makes it smoothly through the year. It does, after all, have lofty aims, such as manufacturing over 300 million smartphones, some of which will be made by ODMs like Wingtech.

Another important topic of discussion will be the looming chip shortage. It isn’t going away anytime soon and Samsung has no choice other than to adjust its product launches. Samsung Mobile’s TM Roh already gave us a gist of Samsung’s technique to get around it not too long ago. Samsung’s newly-announced $17 billion semiconductor plant in Texas could get some bandwidth, too.
