OneUI 3 release date, update list, and more: One UI 3 is the latest custom skin from Samsung. The skin is based on Google’s Android 11 OS platform and comes with several new features and enhancements over the previous-gen One UI 2.5. Samsung has released two versions of its new iteration of custom skin so far, namely One UI 3.0 and One UI 3.1. The latter is built on top of One UI 3.0. However, the One UI 3.1, which was introduced with the Galaxy S21 series, ships with some new features that the older version doesn’t have. Samsung has started rolling out the update to older devices, but not every One UI 3.1 feature will make its way given some hardware is required. We take a look at the One UI 3.0/ One UI 3.1 update list, release date, and features in this article.

The One UI 3.0 also on Android 11, on the other hand, is available for download to a lot more Samsung devices, including 2019’s flagship Galaxy S10 series.

One UI 3.1 features

  • Single Take – Samsung has added the Single Take feature on One UI 3.1. It allows users to capture a variety of still photos and video formats simultaneously with just one tap.
  • Object Eraser Tool – The Single Take feature is backed by Object Eraser Tool that helps remove unwanted objects from your photos with a single tap.
  • Multi-mic recording feature – With this One UI 3.1 feature, users can record audio on both Samsung Galaxy mobile phone as well as any Bluetooth-connected devices such as Galaxy Buds Pro. This will only work when shooting videos in Pro Mode.
  • New Eye Comfort Shield – It automatically adjusts the blue light to reduce eye fatigue. You can also set your device to automatically adjust the screen’s colours based on the time of the day or personalise the schedule.
  • Private Share feature – This lets you remove the metadata from photos before sharing them, and control who gets to access the content, or for how long it’s available for the receiver.
  • Auto Switch feature – The feature on One UI 3.1 makes it easier to switch from one Galaxy device to another with the Galaxy Buds Pro, Live and Buds+ earphones.

These were some of the notable features of One UI 3.1. There is a Director View feature as well that allows you to record with all of the included lenses on your Galaxy smartphone simultaneously, but it’s exclusive to only the Galaxy S21 series for now. The skin also offers One UI 3.0 features, which we are going to discuss next.

  • Notifications – Notifications on One UI 3 has been revamped. The skin gives you the option to receive alerts in a simpler and smaller form factor aka “brief” that takes less space or in detail – covering the entire top quarter of the display. These larger pop-ups benefit from added extras like Smart Reply suggestions and more.
  • Redesigned Volume controls – It’s the most noticeable change in the One UI 3.0 compared to the previous-gen Samsung custom skins. The volume bar is curvier now, with all the information within the slider. Additionally, clicking/ tapping on the three-dot icon to adjust notification and ringtone volume will expand the slider to the entire screen. The panel also has the option to quickly toggle Google’s Live Caption on/ off.
  • Samsung Free – Samsung users will see a new ‘Samsung Free’ feature that brings news and other types of information on the home screen that lives left to the main panel. The UI has also been revamped with an easy scrollable feed and more.
  • Improved AOD and lock screen – Samsung’s One UI 3.0 also offers “improved” Always-on-Display and lock screen features. You can now set the Digital Wellbeing widget directly to the home screen so that you can keep a tab on your phone usage without needing to, you know, unlock your phone. AOD, on the other hand, is said to be more power-efficient.
  • Long-press menu tweaks – Samsung has added related widgets to the app’s long-press menu with One UI 3.0. This would make setting widgets easier for users.

In addition to these, One UI 3.0 also comes with the ability to customise incoming call UI customisation, new smart home controls, and camera features such as auto-focus and auto-exposure. Samsung has also revamped its Internet app with a new design, more settings tweaks, and the ability to open up to 99 tabs. One UI 3.0 also supports a double-tap to turn the phone’s screen off and Android 11 features such as dark theme scheduling, conversation notifications, and chat bubbles, among other things.

Sorry for not being so clear. I meant link to the list of devices getting one ui 3.1 as it seems that s10 series is not included there and explicitly included in one ui 3.0 list.
