Samsung has announced it's latest foundry technology innovations and roadmap for 2nm and 1.4nm processes.

Samsung will start mass production of the 2nm process for mobile applications in 2025, then expand to HPC in 2026 and automotive in 2027. The company has also revealed that the mass production of SF1.4 (1.4nm) will begin in 2027 as planned.

Samsung Foundry is also planning to bring 5nm RF (Radio Frequency) chips in the first half of 2025. They will be used in 6G applications. It will be a huge jump compared to current-generation 14nm RF chips, offering a 40% improvement in power efficiency and 50% higher transistor density. 8nm and 14nm RF chips will be made available for cars.

Dr. Siyoung Choi, President and Head of Foundry Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung Foundry has always met customer needs by being ahead of the technology innovation curve, and today, we are confident that our gate-all-around (GAA)-based advanced node technology will be instrumental in supporting the needs of our customers using AI applications. Ensuring the success of our customers is the most central value to our foundry services.
