Replacements S pen cannot connect or perform air actions on S6 tablet

I just got an S6 tablet without an S pen.  So I bought a replacement S pen on Amazon. It looks identical and even says Samsung on it. It can charge it can be used in every way except it won't perform any air actions. If I go in and say connect to S pen it will spin for approximately 90 seconds and then say cannot connect to S pen Retry. Does this every time every day and if I go into Settings it will show the S pen is not connected. But remember it can do everything else and it knows when it's in its carriage and is charging. If I put it a quarter inch from the screen it will have that little S pen circle and show me all the things I can do with my S pen and they work. Anybody have any idea what this is????? I really want it to show its connected and use the Air Actions. This is a certified renewed S6 from Amzn and seems perfect and all updated. Is this the tab or the pen? Or am I missing something?   THANKS!
